Lex ter Braak is an artist, writer and former director of the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. Before that he was director of the Fund for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture in Amsterdam and the Vleeshal in Middelburg. He exhibited at the beginning of 2020 with his exhibition The Alphabet of Lost Order in New Dakota. Ter Braak regularly.

Lex ter Braak makes large works from several layers of paper and cardboard, sometimes torn away at the edges, covered with threads, bright splashes of colour -red, yellow, blue, muted by the softness of Japanese paper, a blank spot or the traces of a screen print. A cacophony of colour, shape and movement like a party about to get out of hand.

Lex ter Braak is zelf kunstenaar en schrijver en was eerder ook directeur van de Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht, het Fonds voor Beeldende Kunsten, Vormgeving en Bouwkunst in Amsterdam en de Vleeshal in Middelburg, een ruimte voor hedendaagse kunst. Hij weet dus van de hoed en de rand.

Lex ter Braak (Bussum, 1950) studeerde Nederlands en vergelijkende literatuurwetenschappen en deed daarna de Rietveld Academie. Het was zijn vader, een bankier, die hem ervan weerhield om vol voor het kunstenaarschap te gaan. Te weinig bestaanszekerheid, vond hij. Een tijdlang was hij behalve leraar Nederlands ook part time kunstenaar.

Lex ter Braak (NL 1950) studied Dutch and comparative literature and studied at the Rietveld Academy. Besides being an artist, Ter Braak is also known as an organisator, curator and director of De Vleeshal, Middelburg, Fund BKVB and the Jan van Eyck Academy, Maastricht. And he was a teacher at the Rietveld Academy and the Sandberg Institute.
